Diving in Punta Cana

Punta Cana has good diving spots, although it is not considered the best place in the Dominican Republic to practice this activity.

But the conditions are suitable for diving: the warm crystal clear waters of Punta Cana offer good visibility underwater, in addition to its pleasant temperature of about 27°C on average.

In order to dive, you must have a diving license, such as the PADI license, valid in most countries.

There are two areas of shipwrecks to dive: "El Patricia" at 20 meters deep and "El Enriquillo" which is at 18 meters.

In these zones there are 12 different points of different depths, ranging from 7 meters to 30 meters, where divers will be able to test their skills.

The area is rich in marine flora and fauna, with coral reefs, exotic fish, barracudas, sea turtles, manta rays, parrot fish, and schools of fish.

It is worth mentioning the ecological awareness work carried out by the PUNTACANA Ecological Foundation, which has contributed enormously to the preservation of marine life in the area through its "Jardines de Corales" (Coral Gardens) program.

In addition to observing marine life, during the dive you can swim through a underwater cavern, where the diver swims between large blocks of rocks.

In the area of Bávaro-Arena Gorda there are other wrecks for diving: the Astron at 16 meters and Monica at 12 meters.

Another diving spot is the area of Taino statue replicas submerged underwater, which creates a special atmosphere of these statues combined with marine life.

And finally, Catalina Island has ideal conditions for diving, there you can experience and discover the great marine biodiversity that inhabits the area.
